Artist's Comments
Okay, so it's not my comic, but if I lied to you and said I did this for practise, would you believe me? Actually, I'm not lying. This was a super quick sketch on my computer to see if line-art was faster and easier, and it's not. So I'm still gonna do my comic with no line-art.
Peach forcing Rose to go to the beach! R: WHY are you doing this to me?  P: Oh come on, this is fun!  R: Not for me... P: No one's gonna make fun of you, I promise  R: That's what you always say... If it's one thing Rose hates, it's being seen in her bathing suit. That's the torture element. This was done 95% by hand, since all the hard work was coloring (used prismacolor markers and pencils). I did the 5% on Photoshop doing the line-art, adding the shadow below their feet and adding some shine to their skin. That took less time than the coloring. Actually, the line-art took the most time, and it shouldn't have. I have now decided that I hate line-art. I put like no effort into this...so there are two things that are out of porportion and they bother me on a fundamental level....but I'm not telling what they are! My mom saw this when she was watching me make Michael Jackson on Sims 2 (lolz what fun) and said it looked really good, which is why I printed it out and colored it. When it was done I showed her and she liked it a lot, but she like, "The only thing is that you didn't color this part of her [meaning Rose's] eye." And I was like, "You mean the part covered by her hair? That's just part of my style. You can always see their eyes and eyebrows through their hair." 5 minutes later after much worrying... "Does it make it look bad?" "No, it just looks like you forgot. In your other pictures you can't really notice it, but in this one you really can." O__O Does it really look that bad? Or that I just forgot? And what's worse is that I've gotten comments on that before...But if I did show Rose's eye through her hair, most of the time you wouldn't be able to see any of it. I think she'd look silly. But that's my opinion because it's my style. What do you think? Peach (c) to Nintendo Rose (c) to me |
